moneyGuru es una aplicación de gestión de finanzas personales. Con ella, puedes evaluar tu situación financiera para que puedas tomar decisiones informadas (y por lo tanto mejores). La mayoría de las aplicaciones financieras tienen el mismo objetivo, pero la diferencia de moneyGuru radica en la forma en que lo logra. En lugar de tener informes que debes configurar (o averiguar cuál informe preconfigurado es el correcto), tus datos financieros importantes (patrimonio neto, ganancias) están constantemente actualizados y "en tu cara". Esto te permite tomar decisiones informadas de manera constante en lugar de hacerlo periódicamente.
- Hazlo bien. moneyGuru se basa libremente en el sistema de contabilidad de doble entrada, donde cada cuenta -- incluidos ingresos y gastos -- es una cuenta de primera clase, no solo una categoría. Permite mucha flexibilidad en las estrategias de gestión financiera (como la gestión de efectivo).
- Hazlo rápido. moneyGuru tiene un sistema de navegación y edición muy eficiente que te permite moverte sin esfuerzo por tus cuentas y transacciones y modificarlas. Los atajos de teclado están diseñados de manera ordenada y son eficientes. Los valores se completan automáticamente cuando tiene sentido. La edición de fechas utiliza un widget especial que te permite editar fechas con el menor número posible de pulsaciones de teclas, independientemente de tu formato de fecha.
- Hazlo ahí. moneyGuru puede importar archivos QIF, OFX, QFX y CSV y puede exportar a QIF.
- Hazlo internacional. moneyGuru tiene un soporte muy fuerte para monedas. A diferencia de la mayoría de las otras aplicaciones, la información de moneda en moneyGuru se define a nivel de monto en lugar de a nivel de cuenta. Esto te brinda mucha flexibilidad para transacciones con múltiples monedas.
- Velo venir. moneyGuru es consciente del futuro. Selecciona un rango de fechas que termine en el futuro y ve, a través de las hojas y gráficos, cómo las transacciones programadas y la presupuestación afectarán tus finanzas.
- Y para el resto... ¡siempre puedes extender la funcionalidad de moneyGuru a través de plugins!

Been using this software for about a year now, so I've had a chance to give it a good run and it is excellent. When I was first looking for a money/accounting app, I tried about half a dozen. This was the one I settled on, not because it was free, but because it was the easiest to learn and it imported from my bank without any glitches. Since I had taken one accounting course, I understood the basic idea of a double-entry system (which this app is "loosely based on" according to the developer) and knew it's advantages. It felt a little odd or counterintuitive at first, but ultimately it allows money to flow from one category to another without losing track of it, for example if you want to keep some cash around. I only use the app for tracking expenses and income, but it does have a budgeting function, too. Once I got into a habit, I could simply download my information from the bank a few times a month, fill in the categories and get a nice profit and loss report with pretty pie charts. It's worth trying different export and import formats--mine seems to handle the Microsoft Money format from my bank the best. After spending a minimal amount of time learning this application, I have found it to be one of the most useful. I would have liked to donate to the developer for continued development but according to their site, they "don't even like money," LOL.

This software attracted me because it seemed to have all the features I was interested in for simple personal finance, including graphs from which one could plan ahead. Unfortunately, after several attempts and one final long concerted attempt to make sense of how it works, I gave up. I've had no problem with gnucash, another double-accounting program, but this one simply won't work in any reasonable way. I can enter some data, but it doesn't show up where it should; it adds quantities that should be subtracted; it doesn't show graphs when it should; etc. I don't know whether it's a broken download, or simply doesn't like my system (Mac OS X.8.3 on an iMac - but it behaves the same way under Snow Leopard on a Mac Pro), or whether the program is so obtuse that it's very hard to figure out. In any case, I can't afford to waste any more time on it. A real shame.

I'm happy with the software. I run a very small business and it's been a good way of keeping track of expenses and income. When I started using it the developer was very helpful in assisting me to set things up.

Freeware apps do not open telling you how many hours behind the developer is in being paid at his rate of $35/hour. I have no problem with the developer expecting money for his hard work, but then make it a shareware app! Don't pawn it off as freeware and then nag me to death when I go to use it.
